Firstbeat Sports Live app (Live app) is a mobile application developed for training load monitoring and data collection. With the Live app, you can pair Firstbeat Sports Sensors with athlete profiles, monitor athlete training load metrics in real time, and download data from Sensors after training sessions. Before starting to use the Live app, you must have created your team and athlete profiles in the Firstbeat Sports Cloud web service.
Once the athletes have their own profiles in the Firstbeat Sports Cloud, they can also download the Live app to their phones, and use the app to monitor training load and perform Quick Recovery Tests on their own.
Coach access to the Live app is available on iOS devices. Athlete access is available on iOS and Android devices.
Follow these steps to get started:
- Download the Firstbeat Sports Live app
- Log in to the Firstbeat Sports Live App
- Prepare Sensors (Coach and Athlete instructions)
- Live view
Download the Firstbeat Sports Live app
As a coach, download the Firstbeat Sports Live app from the App Store on your iPad. You can find the app by searching "Firstbeat Sports Live".
Athletes can download and access the Live app on iOS and Android devices (find on App Store or Google Play Store, respectively).
Log in to Firstbeat Sports Live app
Log in to the Firstbeat Sports Live app with your Firstbeat Sports coach credentials.
NOTE: The Live app can be used offline after the first login. However, not all features are accessible offline. You can use the Live app without an internet connection to pair Sensors with athletes, see the Live view, and download training data from Sensors. Connect to the internet to sync data from the Live app to the Firstbeat Sports Cloud web service.
Prepare Sensors
Below are instructions specific to coaches or athletes preparing a Sensor. Note, athletes can skip to the 'Athlete instructions' section below the embedded video.
Coach instructions:
Open the Sensor Management screen by selecting the ‘cogwheel‘ button in the main menu.
Open the pairing menu by pressing the ‘Person’ button found on the right side of a Sensor’s row. Each Sensor has its own individual row.
Select the athlete you want to pair with that specific Sensor.
TIP Write an athlete’s name or number on the Sensor casing itself so that they can easily identify their Sensor and avoid mixing them up.

Athlete instructions:
When pairing your own Sensor activate the Sensor by touching the pins. The LED light starts flashing when the Sensor is active.
In the Live app, press the 'Play' button to pair the Sensor.
For more detailed guidance see this video.
Live view
From the Prepare Sensors screen you can continue to Live view.
With Live view you can follow athlete training loads in real time. The Sensors calculate training load metrics internally, so when the device receives the data from the Sensors it is always up to date. Stopping and finishing the Live view doesn't affect Sensor calculations. The Sensor is recording until the athlete removes the Sensor.
Useful information:
- Select and change which variables are visible on an athlete’s Live tile using the bottom left menu.
- The time shown at the bottom of the athletes’ Live tiles shows how long the Sensors have been recording.
- Add and hide athletes shown in Live view using the bottom left menu.
- The time at the bottom of the Live view shows how long you have been using it during the training session.
TIP Create logins for other coaches so they can also access Live view on their own iPads in the same training session.
Note that the maximum Live view range varies from 30-200m. Multiple factors can affect this. To maximize range:
- Check that athletes don’t have heavy clothing covering the Sensor.
- There are no large physical objects between the Sensor and the device you use for monitoring (iPad/iPhone).
- Keep the device above waist height.
-
Do not cover the highlighted area in the image below with your hand during monitoring. This is where the Bluetooth signal is received and covering it may reduce connectivity with the Sensors.
