Diseases
The measurement is not recommended to people who has pacemaker, heart transplant, severe heart disease, continual atrial fibrillation or atrial flatter or uncontrolled thyroid disorder because the results of the analysis can be unreliable. Also when having a fever the measurement should be done in some other time.

The Lifestyle Assessment is used only to improve wellness, it is not meant for diagnosis of diseases.


Medications

Some medications, like beta blockers, affect to heart rate so they may distort the results of the Lifestyle Assessment. Also medications for asthma or allergies, long acting sleep drugs and strong pain medications may affect to heart rate and results. The more diseases and medications client has, the harder it is to do reliable interpretations of the results. It remains on the hands of the professional user to deside whether he recommends the measurement to client with several diseases and mediactions or not.


Children

Children can perform the Lifestyle Assessment but the subjects in the method development have been 15 - 70 years old so the reference values in reports are made for people in this age range. This is why the method is the most suitable to people in these ages. Still there have been succesfull analyzes done also to younger and older people.


Measurement's contraindications

In the following cases conducting the measurement is either forbitten or not recommended:
  • In some industrial areas requirinq the ATEX approval, it is forbitten to use heart rate devices without the separate ATEX approval.
  • In some sports the laws may ban the using of the heart rate devices (e.g. martial arts and some team games). Using the device in competitions needs to be confirmed from the judge.
  • If the client has a pacemaker or heart transplant.
